uhler > This is on highway 37 north, and were passing over what feeds into Swift Current's creek.

Lesson #2: Don't bight off more than you can chew. I found that three days of venturing around was a bit too much and my body wanted to go back home. I went up to Swift Current on the TransCanada highway and booted it to Moose Jaw.

Lesson #3: Fast highways are not condusive to stopping and smelling the roses. One wants to go fast. Lesser travelled highways have more interesting features... maybe an abandoned farm. I saw lots of those but didn't have the gumption to go trespassing. Maybe next time.

I'll pick another region of Saskatchewan to visit in the next few months.
uhler > Here is a short clip of the birds. You'll hear their constant chirping. I'm surprised I didn't get pooped on.
uhler > Starting on my way back home, I went past another set of bridges. The one pictured here was the old one and the new-fangled bridge was to the right. I swear there were a thousand birds that called this area home. You can see a number of birds on this picture.

The first good use of my new polarizing filter. It makes the sky a deep blue colour. Fantastic.
uhler > The third rule of sunsets and sunrises is look behind you. The sun had lit up the trees. Almost looks like fall.

(The first rule is make sure the horizon is level, and the second is to bracket the shot by 0.7 or 1.0 stops.)
uhler > Played around with the brightness and contrast to flare out the sun a bit.
uhler > I mistimed the sunset and missed a good one. I therefore thought that I'd get up early and catch the sunrise.

I set my watch for 4:45 and got up to the same point at a few minutes after 5:00 am. My GPS said that the sunset was at 5:11, and I was there a few minutes before but the sun had already crested.

Here was my first shot and my second shot was a few minutes later. Colour retouched a bit, but this was pretty much what it looked like.

You can see the various levels of haze in the distance, and the rolling hills. Amazing.
