uhler > The third rule of sunsets and sunrises is look behind you. The sun had lit up the trees. Almost looks like fall.

(The first rule is make sure the horizon is level, and the second is to bracket the shot by 0.7 or 1.0 stops.)
uhler > Played around with the brightness and contrast to flare out the sun a bit.
uhler > I mistimed the sunset and missed a good one. I therefore thought that I'd get up early and catch the sunrise.

I set my watch for 4:45 and got up to the same point at a few minutes after 5:00 am. My GPS said that the sunset was at 5:11, and I was there a few minutes before but the sun had already crested.

Here was my first shot and my second shot was a few minutes later. Colour retouched a bit, but this was pretty much what it looked like.

You can see the various levels of haze in the distance, and the rolling hills. Amazing.
uhler > A tree on the hill, and the distance in the background.
uhler > Back to the smelling the roses vs I'm on a mission, so I gotta keep trekkin here. My big plan was to get to Cypress Hills and take a picture of the sunset, weather permitting.

I was having so much fun with Clayton that I forgot that the sunet was at 9:29! I looked at my watch and it was already 9:25. It takes a good 7 minutes to drive to the lookoff point, so I booted it. There was only a few minutes of sunset left in the sky and this is what was left.
uhler > Hide and seek. Where's Clayton?
uhler > One wonders how one can stand on one's head without hands. It helps to have a flat head.
uhler > He's on the picknic table after a bit of rain.
uhler > Clayton poses with some wood on his head. I question Clayton's sanity sometimes.
